With just under a month before the first day of school I realized it's time to start getting back into some proactive self-care.
Let's talk about a little non-school related stuff, even though in the 21st century we understand that taking care of ourselves is the foundation of your teaching, yeah?! So really, this is def school related.
I started working out. And when I say that I mean I just do anything and everything I can think of with out the gym or a video.
I do situps and pushups and lunges. I ride a bicycle down a dirt road. I walk and jog and walk and jog. Whatever it takes to get a little, or big, workout in. (Looking at you 8 mile bike ride.)

With exercise comes good eating, which I was doing an excellent job of before I made a zucchini bread... I couldn't help it. My garden grew a massive zucchini and I couldn't let it go to waste! Good thing I gifted the other loaf.
But back to eating well. I have been vegan for just over 3 months now and have found that it does not explicitly state in the vegan diet contract that you will become thin as a rail. no. In fact I don't think I've gained or lost, if anything I might have shed a little bit of bloat or excess water or whatever it is.

I have been using an app called Nutrition Facts, created by NutritionFacts.org. (No I'm not sponsored, they are non-profit) I have listened to a variety of Dr. Greger's videos and as I am already subscribed to a vegan diet the information he shares just makes me want to push my eating habits a bit further. He's got food in each of his top 12 categories, how many servings you should be eating, what size servings, and examples of everything.
So if you like to eat a little bit more plant based and raw/from scratch, this is your guy. It gets me looking at my meals a lot differently.
Now today was a massive exception. I really broke down. Partly because I knew I was going to be eating in town with family, which meant not eating the most nutritiously... So tomorrow back on the wagon. In fact, I'll hope back on that wagon for dinner tonight!

So I've blabbed about fitness, eating... Ah... reading...
I have gotten through some of my summer reading. I am also taking a college class for ESOL, so that has me reading for it instead.
I've gotten some cleaning done. I've gotten some traveling done. I've gotten some gardening done. I've gotten some library labeling done.
I can't say that it is a waste of a summer!
I guess I have a busy Sunday coming when I will be loading my care back up with all of the materials and decorations I stored in my dining room this summer!
Have a great rest of your summer! And talk to you all soon!
